Recent Updates on New Zealand Resident Visa Application Process, 2021.

Immigration New Zealand issued new updates on the 2021 Residence visa application on Friday, October 29, 2021. These rules clarified several issues that were previously unclear to the applicants. 

Read the following points to know more about the 2021 Residence Visa in New Zealand:

Who Can Apply and When: 

• The 2021 Resident visa will be available in two parts, with the first set of candidates being able to apply on December 1, 2021, and all other eligible applicants being able to apply on March 1, 2022.
• If you applied for residence under the Skilled Migrant or Residence from Work categories on or before September 29, 2021 [or] if you submitted a Skilled Migrant Category Expression of Interest on or before September 29, 2021, and included your dependent child aged 17 years or older in the Expression of Interest, you can apply from December 1, 2021.
• All other qualified candidates, including those who have filed a Skilled Migrant Category Expression of Interest, will be able to apply to start March 1, 2022.
• The majority of applications will be handled at optimal speed, with most applications expected to be finished within 12 months.
• On September 29 and the date of application, you must fulfill the qualifying conditions (out of three).
• On the day of application, such as September 29, you might fulfill different conditions.
•  Partners or dependent children can be located anywhere globally as long as they fulfill the partnership and dependent child requirements.
• Dependent children aged 25 or older who do not otherwise fulfill the dependent child criterion owing to age can apply separately provided they were included in a prior residence application (with family) filed before September 29, 2021, and met all other conditions.
• If you leave New Zealand after applying for a resident visa, Immigration will put your application on hold until you return.

DEADLINES AND APPLICATION MODE: 

• The deadline for submitting applications is July 1, 2022.
• The first phase will begin on December 1, 2021

WHAT YOU'LL NEED: 

If you're applying on December 1, you'll need to have the Skilled Migrant Category, Residence from Work application, or Expression of Interest number available while filling out the online application.

Note that a single reference application number can only be used once.

FEES AND REFUNDS: 

There is no upfront charge for submitting an application. Once your application has received a confirmation decision, you can pay the fee. Before the application is finished and the final decision is revealed, the deposit should be made.

• The total cost of the Resident Visa in 2021 will be $2,160.
• This includes a $1,330 application fee, as well as other costs.
• A charge of $830 immigration levy.
